Chair Yoga- AKA~”Seated and Standing yoga” The chair is really only a prop!

Yoga with a chair can be adaptable for everyone ! Chair yoga is a practice adaptable for ‘every body’ as well. From the ‘able bodied yogi’ to ‘yoga in the workplace’ to ‘seniors and those with mobility and cognitive challenges’. The chair can offer a yoga practice for those who are unable or prefer not to be down on the floor.

Goals of this training:

Learn how yoga poses can be modified or adapted to fit ‘any-body’. Learn to help those looking to add strength, mobility, balance and breath with this adaptive yoga practice.

Learn how an ‘able bodied’ yogi can use the chair for balance poses and inversions. Looking for a new and different challenge or perspective using the chair. Learn to create a chair ‘flow’ practice and incorporate Yin and Restorative poses as well.

Learn how a chair practice can help in the workplace, whether it is a home office or corporate. Yoga movements, breath and mindfulness can be practiced to reduce stress levels and relieve poor posture leading to a calmer and more productive place of work.

Learn how to teach to all levels of seniors. From the active mobile senior to those with limited physical and cognitive function. Better understand how other props can be combined with the chair to enhance and add to the practice.

Looking to gain confidence and expand your teaching skills? Thinking about teaching outside of the studio setting? Teaching in an office setting, local town recreation center, senior living facility, senior centers and nursing homes, this will all be discussed!
