To me, yoga is home. It is remembering that we are already whole and enough. It is letting the falsehoods and distractions of the constructed illusion slip away. It is permission to be and to let go.
As a young adult, I found yoga unintentionally through a friend who became a teacher. My understanding of "fitness" up to that point was along the lines of harder, faster, more intense, and punishing. Mind over matter, brain over body, no pain no gain. Exercise was an outlet to exhaust myself and distract from life. Burnout and injuries eventually wore away my resistance to the possibility of a different way. Yoga had been calling to my heart even as I initially tried to dismiss it as superficial. As I have become more willing in my practice and allowed yoga to seep through cracks, through mental, emotional, and physical injuries, I have found a universe beyond my wildest dreams. What was once merely a physical workout has expanded to an opportunity to heal, restore, and grow.
I hope to facilitate the same respite for others. A return to the body. A home that is strong, grounded and supported through it's roots. Yoga is for everyone and every body. There is a magic that happens in the rooms and in the energy of a class. I invite you to join me on the mat. May you find peace, challenge and wonder on your journey.
