RYT 200

I came to yoga in 2014 when I moved back home to Seattle after completing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in Phoenix, AZ. In Arizona, I was trail running almost daily along with lifting weights, but when I moved home I became injured almost immediately while doing the same activities. The only change I could attribute it to was the weather. I realized my body was craving the warmth that I had become accustomed to in the desert, so in the middle of the dreary Seattle winter I signed up for my first hot yoga class. Since that packed, sweaty session, I have been hooked. I continued to attend several hot vinyasa classes a week along with running, skiing and weight training and got into the best shape I had ever been in, despite having played sports all my life and collegiate tennis. I eventually received my 200 RYT in 2017 while I was 6 months pregnant. A month after having my son I did 30 classes in 30 days, which allowed me to return to running and lifting 3 months postpartum. Since then I have consistently practiced hot vinyasa yoga several time a week and plan to keep it a part of my ‘life-training’ routine indefinitely. When I moved to Southern Pines in 2020, I found Hot Asana and it was game over. It is one of the most beautiful studios I have ever attended with fantastic instructors and a great community.

I believe yoga is beneficial for every, single body, not just for the physical health benefits, but also for mental well-being. I, personally, find peace through movement, so I figure others do as well. My goal as a yoga instructor is to bring you through this mindful movement practice, while having some fun along the way. I look forward to flowing it out with you on the mat!
