Hi! I’m Alisha. I began my yoga journey in 2017 after separating from the military. I felt like my body had been through the ringer, and was tired of constantly being prescribed meds to help “fix me”. I heard great things about yoga, yet never really gave it much thought. Luckily Hot Asana, Southern Pines was right around the corner. Little did I know it would totally rock my world mentally too. I didn’t realize how much I needed to be still, yet let my mind process the events of my life. Who knew that the mind and body are connected?! The transition from one career to “figuring-out-what-I-wanted-to-be-when-I-grow-up” was a lot harder than expected. After a lot of soul searching, weeping, and gnashing of teeth, I let go of what I THOUGHT I should be, and began learning who I already was. So, a retreat to Tulum and 200-hour YTT in Colorado Springs with HAYU later, I began teaching in my new community in Texas. Creating a yoga community from virtually nothing comes with its ups and downs, but I realized I truly loved teaching. Introducing people to yoga has definitely taught me how to be a better teacher. As I continue my own personal journey of growth, I’m excited for what each day holds.
