Myofascial Release (MFR) is an effective adjunct to any physical movement practice for recovery and mobility restoration. MFR pairs incredibly well with the mind-body focus of yoga. Initially developed by physical therapists, myofascial release techniques can be adapted to be performed on oneself with the use of various tools such as lacrosse balls & yoga blocks. In this 25 hour virtual module, Physical Therapist Casey Backus will provide an anatomical review of the head/neck, shoulders and upper trunk to identify relevant trigger points for MFR. Instruction and practice in MFR techniques, as well as vinyasa and restorative style practices with MFR integration daily. Also included will be current research review of evidence supporting the practice of MFR. Training can be taken as stand alone or in conjunction with MFR II. Recording available for one week following training.
Hours can be used towards a 300 hour certificate through Hot Asana Yoga University or towards continuing education requirements.
