CYT 200, Om’erica Scholarship Recipient

I have been practicing Yoga in some capacity since I was in high school, doing a quick 20 minute Yoga DVD before going to morning swim team practice. All through college and on to being deployed overseas with the Army, yoga was a way to stay balanced, flexible and relaxed in the face of overwhelming and busy schedules.

After being injured by an IED in Afghanistan, I found adaptive athletics and adaptive yoga. I saw the difference that Yoga made in my mindset, to my physical and mental imbalances, and my performance. Even after being permanently injured, I saw people heal in ways they never thought possible otherwise.

All this is how I found my first heated flows at Hot Asana. After 90 minutes of heat and sweat, it was like my kinks were all worked out, and the chatter that plagued my mind was silent. I was hooked, and became a regular to every class I could spare.

I earned my CYT 200 through HAYU and otherwise am an avid continuing student of how to make my practice and teaching more complete for the benefit of others. Namaste.
