Flow To Yin

Flow to Yin

  • Date: Saturday May 20th

  • Location: Hot Asana Danville

  • Times: 1-2:30pm
  • Instructor: Jesse Watkins
  • This 90-minute practice will be a focus of Yin/Yang asanas combined with meditation and pranayama.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced meditative style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time ranging from 2-5 minutes. Yin yoga was developed to penetrate deep into the connective tissue by applying moderate stress to the tendons, fascia, and ligaments. This practice allows for expanding flexibility, increasing circulation in the joints, and cultivating awareness of inner silence which will allow healing and loosening of energetic blockages to increase the flow of prana or chi.

Yang yoga is a more traditional hatha, ashtanga, or vinyasa based yoga practice that develops muscular strength, stamina, and flexibility without the lengthy holds. Yang yoga focuses more on Sun Salutations and dynamic strengthening poses or sequences to work on the yang tissues-the muscles, blood, and skin.

When combined you will leave feeling truly balanced with an energizing and uplifting first half of class (Yang) followed by a quiet and deeply introspective second half of class (Yin). All levels welcome
